I've been back in Boston for a couple of days now, which is great! I meant to make a last post before I left Germany, but my luck playing with foreign electricity was beginning to wear thin, and I decided to postpone the post. So, the last week at work was sort of neat. I finished up my work on my main project and did a little bit of work on smaller projects. Then I got to wander around the factory and actually see some of the stuff I designed being built! And my office took a group picture:
We're standing in front of the train that my project was for! And they gave me nice going away presents, including a bottle of wine from Hessen that I had lots of fun getting past US customs!
On my own time I packed and repacked my suitcases until they were just at the weight limit. I went swimming once. I visited the Brothers Grimm museum, since they spent a lot of their lives in Kassel. And I also went to an art show. And some nifty old bunkers where thousands of people were sheltered. It was a nice last week. At the same time, I was really ready to go home. But the last couple of days were bittersweet, doing and seeing things for the last time and saying goodbye to people. And now I'm back at Random. Maybe I'll post more pictures and some more introspective thoughts about the summer here some other time. But right now I feel tired. And I'm just going to sit in the lounge and enjoy the atmosphere of Random. See you around!
