POSITION OVERVIEW STATEMENT
Independently perform accounting and financial functions in a busy, service-oriented fiscal office in an academic research laboratory. Responsibilities will include developing research proposals; working in coordination with Senior Financial Administrator to develop specific budgets and long-range projection analysis for research groups; maintaining proper accounting, financial, and recordkeeping reports and procedures and helping to assure post-award conformity to sponsor guidelines; approving paper and electronic requisitions; maintaining and developing salary database projections; handling accurate and timely close-out of accounts; serving as a key contact for faculty, research administration staff, and internal MIT offices regarding budget and fiscal matters; and assisting Senior Financial Administrator with special assignments as needed.

Minimum requirements- bachelor's degree and two years’ experience in finance or accounting. Combinations of education and experience may be used against minimum education and experience requirements. Experience in an accounting/finance environment; excellent analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills; proficiency with Microsoft Excel; and proven ability to work without supervision. Must have good communication skills; be self-motivated and detail- customer service-oriented who is able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Must possess skills in order to effectively handle multiple tasks and changing priorities/ responsibilities as needed. Database management, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Excel/Word experience.
Preferred experience- managing and developing budgets; knowledge of federal guidelines
