I decided to make a name plate to go on my friend's desk. This design was quick, but elegant. It is made out of laser cut acrylic. Then it is laser engraved with the person's name and MIT logo. Then the hole is countersunk for the pen holder screw. Then the edges are scraped for a rounded finish. The acrylic is then heat-bent using a custom built jig made of MDF. Finally, the pen holder is screwed in and the name plate is presented. Once the MDF jig was made, the name plate only took an hour to make.
