To sleep, perchance to dream... sweet dreams, dead prince. dread dreams, sweet prince? NO. -------------------- 6/28/90 'dis pair I sit here, alone in my chair, you sat there, somewhere over there. sometimes I forget when we said we'd do, but now you say you won't. Me too. television loudly playing, video ready for my show? your friends called saying they want you to go. newspaper says hippies are graying salaries drop, profits up. no matter, I'm not staying. icy water broke my cup. our song plays in the cafe, sunlight sank in Monterey. friends eating chatter, can't hear. No matter. non-dairy creamer soils decaf, did I hear you starting to laugh? nylons rolled on fatty thighs, dimples - forgot to shave - sighs. gritty teeth sweating at the alarm, call in sick, saved today from harm. today's the day we dreamed about yesterday, gotta go shopping with friends, you say. lost in the burning, touched by the turning. felt by the yearning, still in the learning. I sit there, alone in my chair, you sat here, someone who could care. sometimes you forget what we said, we two, but now I say "I want you, too." -----------------------------
