a bit of color.. background writing just for the fun of it.

August 23, 1993

    The crystal blue sky this morning was blinding to eyes grown grey
from the three weeks of drizzle and rain that was the rainy season this
year in Japan.  The sun poured brightness onto blinking businessmen and
students, and pulled women onto apartment balconies suddenly gay with
futon.  As they pounded the sunshine into the thick padded bedding and
beat the dampness and mold out, their muffled thudding formed a
counter-rhythm to the click and thump of the morning rush, scurrying to
work through warm light and suddenly sharp shadows.
    Yesterdays' clouds have vanished, and summer's heat waits a breath
before settling its heavy weight on us, although the morning sun tickles
its promise onto our skin in the morning glory revealed today in the
land of the rising sun.
    Still, it's a good morning, world.  A morning to savor.
    Good morning.
