or
The Midlife Charge of the Write Brigade!

Words a right and words alight,
Gathered to push back that grey night.
None too long and none too short,
Boring holes in Death's dark court.

Quotes upheld, commas imbed,
Periods demark what was said.
Spaces, lines, alphabets!  marching hard,
Rank on rank in brave regard.

Scratch back the times of sand,
Guide us in that unknown land.
Where words go we do not know,
Who will read what I sow?
