In which our heroes ...
Orhan 5 Day 17 TE 6060
We troop along through the forest all day. We'll need to camp for the
evening before getting there.
Kyrik and Imre are on watch and notice a bunch of small bobbing lights
off in the distance.
They are paranoid and wake up Alynna and Haeraan. He identifies them
as "fairy lights of some variety". He says they're probably
sylphs or driads or some such thing what will mess with you and try to
trick you into surrendering your viture and then he goes back to sleep.
Everyone awake hides a bit, and the lights get closer, it's clear that
two of them are carrying a pole to which two men are tied and trussed
up.
There's much fussing with what to do what to do (Can Kyrik personally
tire out all 12 of them?), but eventually, it's decided to let them go
on their merry way. They pass on by.
The rest of the night passes uneventfully.
Orhan 5 Day 18 TE 6060
Off we go. We have to convince the fawn to lead us all over again, but
he finally gets on with it.
Early afternoon, we appraoch a hill rising up out of the forest. At the
rocky outcropping at the top of the hill is indeed a strange rock face.
Imre starts looking around, while a bunny rabbit hops out of the forest
and starts looking at us. Then another bunny appears. A third and fourth
one. Some more. Now there are seven, and Oathar becomes concerned and
asks if Tradewind can take them. Imre goes crazy and starts addressing
the bunny rabbits asking them for directions. One of the bunny rabbits
points with his paw.
Then everyone goes mad and starts listening to the bunny rabbit speak.
They introduce themselves as the servants of the old man. Imre asks to
go inside the hill, but they say that's forbidden. Then the bunny rabbit
starts sniffing people. It seems we all have the smell of the place, but
we must prove who we are. They leave to consult as to how best to prove
things to them.
The bunnies invite us all to come and prove ourselves. We follow them
down a trail until we get to a big hole in the ground. More of a pit really.
Imre descends into the pit. "Your spells, you will not need them."
We alll go in. Fools.
Imre heads across the cavern and a figure emerges from the darkness.
Yup, it's Imre. Except for the gloves being reversed. They approach each
other. "Defend yourself" as the evil one starts casting. Attacking
begins. The bad guy attacks a lot with sorcery, and Imre evades a bunch,
but is slow attacking. Luckily, he's pretty good at resisting sorcery.
Eventually Imre sinks him into a pit. But he long doors out. The epic
battle continues. Imre summons an Earth Elemental. The elemental attacks
and suddenly the evil Imre looks better than ever. Sigh. Imre casts heal
on the guy and he writhes in pain. Yar!!!
Several healing spells later, it is over.
The rest of us back out carefully...
The bunnies say "Well done." and lead Imre off to the remaining
corner of some ruins. He finds a wooden trap door. It leads to an ages
old passage down.
At the bottom is an octagonal chamber. In the center is a pedestal with
a sphere, and on each wall is panel of some sort. Imre reaches out with
his ring and touches a spehere. One of the panels behind him starts glowing
and a niche appears. In the niche is a Holy Symbol of Eissa. On the back
is a circular indentation (for laen perhaps?) Imre attunes to it.
Powers of the Holy Symbol: x2 PPM, Repulsions up to 10th level, Death
Mastery up to 10th level, +2 ranks in all "closed healing lists"
We all put our hands on the glowing sphere and the whole room lights
up. There's then an image swirling around in the sphere. We see the image
of this guy, from Imre's vision: (in Old Emer)
"To whoever gets this message. Remember that we were betrayed. It
is rumored that Valan survived, but none know where to find him. Remember
that he is the rightful heir to the throne. Remember us!"
We head outside to collect Ara who is studying and being studied by the
rabbits.
We teleport back and spend a night in Orian.
Orhan 5 Day 19 TE 6060
Oathar checks on Orian a bunch. The economy seems to be improving. We
help it a bit by buying expensive dinner in the taverns. We toss down
a couple gold and go crazy headed. Well, not really so much. Still a tad
hung over from that forest party. While we're wandering around Orian,
people with Fauna lore make rolls in retrospect and realize those bunny
rabbits were all vorpal. Gosh.
There's a priestess at the Temple of Neela there. Oathar hangs out there
an prays a bit. The priestess has news that just a bit before we arrived
there was a flash of light from Votania. Like right around the time we
were messing with the sphere. From like halfway up. Goodness.
Orhan 5 Day 20 TE 6060
Back to Santa Vallandra to pick up our stuff. We take a couple of days
in SV/SK and then head towards the place in Uj.
Orhan 5 Day 24 TE 6060
Travel Plan: Teleport to Kaitaine and hire a boat and sail to bay of
Uj, and amphibious assault on Uj itself. Then we need to look around for
Alynna's muschroom house.
We teleport to Kaitaine! We ask around in sailor bars for problems related
to sailing to the bay of Uj. Not a lot to find out.
Haeraan visits his temple. He looks around for a guide. The temple suggests
we spend a few days here while they investigate.
Kyrik visits his temple and looks around for mushroom shaped stone structure
books. They can't help him. But he asks Imre to help him search for something.
Oathar visits Diana at Neela's temple. He asks for a blessing on the
water. Oathar hires a researcher. He's an old crotchety guy. Oathar hires
him for 2 silver and a bronze a day to search out the old stories. He
asks for a blessing; she says she'll give it when the boats ready to leave.
Alynna looks around for linear bards and investigates the local performance
scene. He gives them her brother's name. The bards she befriends are linear
named Jenna and Marissa. They suggest visiting Lys. They suggest going
to the Central Tree and seeing the Falls, and visitng the various concert
halls.
We hire a boat to Uj: a small merchant, or a small courier ship. We
pay 10 gold +1 gold a day.
Haeraan returns to his temple and meets a guide, an "Eye" named
Darren. Haeraan hires him on.
Kyrik sees to supplying us. He gets a bandolier of water skins and gets
a funnel or two.
We set off!
Orhan 5 Day 29 TE 6060
Diana comes down to bless the boat. She does the full blessing, pouring
holy water on every thing. She asks Neela for lot's of blessings. Even
protection from icebergs.
We set sail! Yay!
Orhan 5 Day 37 TE 6060
It's about eight days of sailing. The captain seems disturbed by icebergs
the whole time. But with the blessings of Neela, we make 10 knots the
whole way, and then long door to shore. We camp for a day on the shore
to establish a teleport basecamp. The next morning, we start slogging
inland through the desert.
