In which our heroes ...
Orhan 1 Day 70 TE 6061
We sit around discussing the fate of the two unconscious mind probed
goofs.
We prop them up at the dining room tables and let them come conscious
for a midnight snack and discussion.
We're impeccably civilized while we interrogate them.
They recover themselves and offer us 3000 orlini for the cloth. They
really need it back. We say that we're not real interested in just money,
though Oathar is pretty interested, so let's others talk this time.
They ask what else we might want, and we negotiate around, but there's
not a lot we cna provide either way, so they up their offer to 4000 orlini.
We confer privately for a bit and decide that we're really not going
to get anything good from them, so we'll take them up on their offer.
We then ask them about their little metal boxes? They say they are tools
that are sort of magic. We say we tested them for magic and our guests
reply, that they are very subtle. They have a high powered manufacturing
facility elsewhere. We ask for a demonstration and he starts demonstrating.
(It's clearly a tricorder.) Imre notes privately that recording things
are only it's thrid power.
They discuss privately. Shockingly, they seem willing to give us a tricorder,
but they discuss leaving the homing beacon on and having the city get
plasma bombed and that wouldn't be their fault. We tell them to come back
for lunch and we'll finish the deal.
The Kashmiri or the Dia-Khovaria will just plasma bomb us if they catch
the homing beacon from the tricorder.
Imre plays with the tricorder while we sleep.
Haeraan has a dream indicating that we're probably not doomed if we take
the tricorder. Imre determines the thing takes the same battery as Alynna's
blaster pistol.
They return at lunch time. They give us 3000 Orlini in diamond notes,
and ask for our tricorder (not by name) so that they can "turn it
on". Imre tells them that that won't be necessary. They are duped!
Yay!
They tell us the name of their alchemist in Jaiman, in Lethys, which
is Jaysten. They give us a terse letter of introduction to Jaysten and
tell us that if anything goes wrong we can leave a note for them with
the temple of the brotherhood of the word.
They are gone, we have 3000 Orlini, no cloaks, and a tricorder.
Imre plays with the tricorder. It analyzes minerals, and atmosphere and
records and replays. They seem to be recording people casting spells.
We decide to make a side trip to Karalon.
Orhan 2 Day 10 TE 6061
We report in to Karalon with this tale of fabric and tricorders and the
brotherhood of the word, etc. After they recover from their shock that
we told them stuff.
They think the tricorder is similar to some ancient artifacts of the
First Era Lords of Essense.
Kyrik finally wakes up from his massive drinking binge and finds we are
on Karilon. We put on a little play for him to demonstrate the wonders
of being mindwiped. It doesn't seem that he gets it. Oh well, we have
some fun at his expense.
They decide to keep the Tricorder on Karalon to prevent plasma bombings.
Orhan 2 Day 20 TE 6061
We head to Sel-Kai and start planning our expedition to get Oathar and
Haeraan's item. We begin the 4000 mile journey around the continent.
Orhan 2 Day 30 TE 6061
We sail and sail and sail. Lot's of sandy beaches down near the Bay of
Molkanar.
We are met by a Hrazi who flies down from the sky and lands on the deck.
He says "Greetings. I am Ashan, one of the Guardians, what brings
you to our bay." We're looking for a place that our ancestors visited.
He is not familiar with the place and has to go ask. He tells us to wait,
and flies off.
An hour later he returns and tells us that an elf will come and talk
to us. A couple of elves are in the water. We invite them in and the Harazi
flies off to continue his patrol.
One of the elves is Elena, considers Oathar's description of the island.
There was record of such an island, but it is no more. She says that the
channel silted up and moved and now the island is on dry land. She can
point us to the general area, but we have to go alone. There are dangerous
land beasts, but they don't think it's inhabited. However, there have
been recent indications that something has taken up residence there.
Oathar asks if there is anything we can do to aig them, and they enlist
us to aid them in patrolling the bay for pirates. Excellent.
They tell us where to go. We head out.
Orhan 2 Day 31 TE 6061
We sail where we were instructed and suddenly ahead of us we hear the
cries "Abandon Ship!" We see a ship stuck on the reef. They
seem to be flying a pirate flag. We sail forward a bit. As the pirates
swim up to the ship, we put down some ladders. As they climb aboard, one
guy with a big hat comes aboard.
He tells the sad sad tale of the ship going up on the reef. "Perhaps
you'd like to hear our business proposition."
Captain Seamos tells the sad sad tale of Barbarossa's treasure. Worst
of all pirates. Heinous pirate in these waters. He had a vast pirate treasure
that couldn't be held all in one place, so he built himself a secret hidaway,
and upon his death he locked himself in the hidaway forever. It was said
he and his lugraki minions were forever locked in that chamber.
It was prophesied that 100 years after his death, someone would be able
to enter his tomb and challenge him. (He died a little over 99 years ago.)
So now there are pirate ships combing these water looking for it. The
trick is finding it. Captain Seamous has a pretty good idea where to look,
but got unlucky with the reef. Oathar thinks he's not cursed, he's not
Eeeevil, he's a mentalist.
We approach an island where there's a ship already anchored. A third
ship approaches from the North. Barbarossa's treasure is on that island.
So we land.
We all meet at the center of the island. There's us, a woman (Captain
Dora), and a big ugly guy (Captain Rawlings). We start talking. Rawlings
thinks he got here first. Dora thinks that's not so obvious as he probably
can't take it and hold it. Seems like the reasonable thing is to split
it three ways equally.
Negotiations go on, and Imre says, "Yarrr!" to prove that he's
a pirate deserving of a share. The final agreement is one share per person.
Everyone takes a party of six.
We head on into the cave on one end of the island. We come to a passageway
down with stairs into the water. the cieling and walls are painted red
or green above or below the waterline. Oathar consults his book of pirate
treasure. One of the pages says,
"The three deadly traps of Barbarossa. Trap
One: Green is life, Red is death."
We need to swim and avoid going above the water in the red areas, or
touch the floor when it turns red. Haeraan swims in and carefully avoids
the trap and gets through. Then a pirate tries it and is eletrocuted and
he dies. We proceed round robin. Most people make it through. But Imre
gets zotted. He survives it. Score: 6 (us)-5 (Dora)-5 (Rawlings)
"Trap Two: The Crushing Room of Spikes! Find the Hidden
Release Trigger"
The corridor continues to a doorway into a room. This time, Dora's group
goes in first. Kyrik portals the door. They scramble out our way. We make
observation rolls. Haeraan notices a few holes near the far side big enough
to stick your hand in. Our group goes in next.
Thanks to D's skills, we find the secret latch and rush through the secret
door. Rawlings and two muys makes it through. Finally, Dora and three
guys make it through. Score: 6 (us)-4 (Dora)-3 (Rawlings)
"Trap Three: All that Glitters is Not Gold! Don't be greedy."
There's a big sealed stone door. They hack at the door. We eventually
get bored and portal the door. Rawlings and his guys run inside. They
start playing in the treasure. They spend the rest of the time doing that.
There's a path down the middle and piles of gold on both sides. While
Rawlings plays, we walk down the central path. We come to another door.
Just a plain unobtrusive door in the far wall.
We disarm the trap in the door and then portal it and a booming voice
calls out, "Who was the greatest pirate of all time?" We say
Barbarossa. "How do you know this?" Um... "Because he amasses
the greatest treasure?" Very well, we may pass. Score: 6 (us)-4 (Dora)
We go in and find the Barrow Wight Babarossa and his undead pirate lugraki
minions.
