Orhan 5 Day 12 TE 6061

We start travelling overland to the border. Newmoon notices that the forest is darker than usual. Strange.

Meanwhile, outside the forest, Gilraen acquires a phalanx of small song birds who join her and start flying in formation with her. When she heads back to the party to report this and lands, they all land too and start chirping on.

In the forest, Newmoon discovers a giant spiderweb with a picture on it.

Brother Elk talks to the birds. Apparently the birds are thrilled that their gods (Sand and Gilly) have arrived to make their lives better. They start telling him all of their problems. Sand makes a loaf of waybread, and gives half to Gilraen, and they start feeding the birds with "mana from heaven". The birds are thrilled and start bowing and stuff. Next they reveal that they want to be saved from the horrible spinner of webs in the night.

We bribe a hawk with a rabbit and he leads us into the forest of death. We head in. We look around for some spiders. Several birds follow along shouting that we're doomed! Eventually, we find the giant spiderweb with the picture in it. It's a landscape. We continue and encounter another spiderweb with a different picture, (mountains). Newmoon discovers a pit with a web over it.

We burn away some web and free a pig who the spider was hoarding. Yay! We have balanced our debt of karma to the gods for the pig we lost.

While we are entranced by the fire one of the bothans gets pulled out of his saddle and gets pulled up into the tree. Oh dear. Kyrik throws his sword at the spider.

Elk starts interrogating the spider. Everyone around here was apparently elevated by a recent essence storm. The spider's name is Charlotte. Darned essence storm.

Elk starts negotiating with the spider to get him to agree to not eat people and get teleported to a beach somewhere. Kyrik prepares to teleport the spider and his egg sac to a secluded beach in Ardania.

We wait while the spider gets transported. It turns out he really does send the spider and egg sac to Ardania. How odd, we expected him to betray the spider. It's what we would have done.

We search for the spider's treasure. We find a spider tunnel. Newmoon is sent down in to investigate it. It opens into a fairly large sized underground cave. In one of the walls there's a three foot wide crack. It's dark in there. It appears to be an artificially constructed corridor down there. There's an iron pedastal down there, lying on it's side, and there's a faintly glowing cracked orb.

It's a purple glass orb, mostly transparent. When you get within a few feet of it, you get an odd feeling. Elk tries to attune to it.

We tell the birds that the spider is gone. It's party time in bird land. Go birds!

We think about the orb for a long time, but even Kyrik knows nothing of it.

Everyone ponders it, but no one really gets anything. Sand tries to use it for divination and gets a billion images of the END OF THE WORLD! Then he passes out.

A bunch of first aid rolls later, he seems to be in a coma.

The rest pack him up and head out.

Orhan 5 Day 13 TE 6061

In the morning, Sand still has fnally awoken. He starts writing it all down. Newmoon and Elk slept next to the orb and awake to find they have more POWER. they feel younger and stronger than ever. YAR!

We press on to deliver the Bothans to our goal. The Rebel Alliance is saved.

We get fifth level!

Kyrik and Oathar examine the orb. It's not really one of the artifacts anyone is familiar with. The one thing that comes up is a very obscure reference to the Orb of Rebirth. But that's all it says.
