In which our heroes ...
Orhan 1 Day 37 TE 6062
We return to Sarnak to pick up our wives. They quarantine the ship since
Oathar claims to be the captain. After a couple of hours, messengers come
back saying she'll be by in a couple of hours, as she currently has things
to do. An inspector comes aboard. We don't have a lot of cargo. We get
a copy of the local laws. They're about what we expect.
Eventually, Arisia and Nusmoi return with pile of boxes. They fill us
in with the local gossip. Apparently there's a plague to the north and
that's why they're inspecting ships. We discuss for a bit if we should
head up to investigate the plague. We decide to cast off.
Orhan 1 Day 39 TE 6062
We sail to the Gate of Yaera, said to be on a great rocky plane surrounded
by ruins. At least, we look around for it. We search and search and search.
It's not really around where we thought it should be.
Orhan 1 Day 40 TE 6062
We search a bit more.but don't really find anything again, so that evening
we turn north and start heading home. Just after sunset, we notice the
skyship passing over a stonehenge like formation. As we sail above it
a giant column of light springs up and the ship stops. We are caught in
the column of light. Haeraan thinks reality is slipping away. Oathar starts
to cast breezes, and a whirl of color appears around him. He finishes
the spell and a giant purple cloud materializes and then blows away. But
no breezes blow.
We seem to be stuck, as Haeraan things reality itself is falling away
from us. We start swooshing away from reality in some strange startgate-esque
animations. Suddenly, the ship flips around 180 and splooshes and we're
gently rocking in some water. It's dark and there's no navigational aids....
Oathar casts compass and gets the answer: North is "not". After
a while, the sky clears and an odd pattern of lights appears in the sky,
moving around, appearing and dissappearing. Oh dear.
Imre does some divinations and decides that we are sailing the sea between
the planes of existence. Oathar sees another ship on the waters. It has
a black hull with red sails. Oathar attempts to flee it. Darn those black
ships of the damned.
Imre casts Study and Correlate for a long time. He eventually figures
out that the things you concentrate on determine where you go. Bu twe
don't kno wwhich things represent which directions.
We activate the God Construct in Astrologer mode. The God Construct casts
lots of spells and thinks for a while, and tells us the more people that
concentrate the faster we go. He points out a couple of things. We seem
to be metaphorically above our home plane. Thus we want to go down, but
too far down is the pales. Or we could go up, which is the direction of
Orhan, but too far up you get to places like where Blinky comes from.
He has a slightly better diretional sense for Orhan as opposed to home,
but it's a close thing.
After much discussion, we decide to head down to Kulthea rather than
up to Orhan. Imre starts meditating and concentrates on down-swirly. Swirly
down seems to be working. then we start curving to the right, whatever
that means. Imre has some concentration issues and a demon appears. Imre
and Haeraan try to smite it. Kyrik joins them. Oathar keeps chanting.
Kyrik finds he's healing the demon with his sword, so switches to the
demon slaying sword. Blinky seems annoyed. In the end Kyrik kills the
demon, but then Blinky grabs the sword away from Kyik. Blinky and the
sword fight for a bit and then it vanishes.
More meditation and pulsing and downing later. Haeraan goes insane. He
tries to convince everyone to embrace the impending doom. Imre tries to
sleep Haeraan, but Haeraan resists. He and the Astrologer team up to consign
us to the outer darkness forever. We try some more Pulsy Down Down and
finally make it.
We finally defeat them and make it to Kulthea. We reappear pretty much
where we left, though off the coast.
Orhan 1 Day 50 TE 6062
We arrive at SelKai. Thank the gods. Especially Neela.
Kyrik heads off to talk to Gireg Jan and tells him of the speaking of
the Agathu language. Haeraan goes in to "help". Gireg Jan tries
to warn Kyrik against speaking the language. Oh dear. Haeraan is insane.
Gireg Jan considers destroying the office and fleeing back to Karalon.
Oathar and Imre head to Santa Vallandra for a couple of days. They try
to come back after the "storm" has past.
There is a lot of cleansing rituals at various temples. The god construct
gets cleansed too.
Kyrik discovers a bladeless hilt in his room. It teleport to its owners
hand, it calls forth and insubstatial blade, the blade is +20, +40 v demons
and undead, can not harm Agothu.
