In which our heroes ...
Orhan 3 Day 31 TE 6062
We get ambushed by shadow demons. Next time, we fight!
We destroy them all, but the demons chop off Oathar's thumb. Imre reattaches
it, but Oathar can't use that hand for a while. Darn. Imre claims that
it will take 90 days to heal. Oathar doesn't believe him. We find a note
saying that there should always be a guard in the heart tower that we
just came down from. Alynna, who ran off in fear when the shadows attacked,
doesn't come back. Hrmmm. We go searching for her.
We find her. She's saying "Yes master.." The vampire is quite
pleased to have a replacement bride for the one we destroyed. He flies
off with her, and we give chase.
We chase him up the tower with the beating heart at the top of it. As
soon as we step on the stairs, the hear lights up and starts beating.
We charge through this time. They pitchs and shake back and forth. As
we rush up the stairs, magic halberds detach and start attacking us. It
takes a while, but we finish off the eight halberds with minimal damage.
We proceed up the stairs...
We undoor the door at the top. Inside is a bed with a woman chained to
it. A different woman however. Alynna is looking quite pale and attached
to the other wall. There is also Strad, who is there too. We attack! We
start pummeling the vampire, but flushing fate points out the hatch as
we desperately attempt to avoid his mental domination. He's quite wounded,
but then he bites Alynna and sucks her blood, healing a lot. We keep attacking!
The vampire finally dissappates. Alynna and Kyrik stay to save Alynna,
while Oathar and Haeraan rush downstairs to the vampire's coffin. We stake
him! He opens his eyes and says "Fool! I can not be killed this way!"
But the staking does seem to paralyze him. Haeraan starts pummeling him
with the Morningstar of the Night! Imre and Kyrik try healing Alynna up,
but her teeth are a tad pointy. Oh dear.
Alynna has been bitten twice, the woman on the bed has been bitten twice,
and Oathar has been bitten once. Yeah, we'll all be vampires soon. The
woman's name is Irena Kolyana. She was kidnapped. The glowing heart is
both 5000 years and 4 hours old. It is the guardian which guards the tower
against all who are not undead by shaking the tower and animating the
halberds. It was created by Strad. Against Imre's advice, Haeraan chops
it. It crunchs and shatters and the light goes out. Well, mission accomplished.
Not knowing what to do, we take the woman down to Sergei's crypt. We
read her the story and the coffin opens at her touch. Inside is a skeleton
dressed in golden platemail with a glowing sword. Kyrik grabs the sword.
It's a golden broadsword, with a golden sunburst on the hilt. We go the
the crypt. Kyrik stabs him with the glowing sword, which blazes with sunlight,
and the vampire dusts.
The castle itself, starts to shake and fade away. Irina stays solid and
she glows brighter and brighter until she collapses into the chalice.
Oathar grabs the chalice. We're outside with the chalice that is decorated
with pictures of Irina. Everyone gets a fate point! (Oathar gets two.)
We head back to the camp with the alchemists and Jar-Jar.
In the night, we see a battle in the distance between the jewel knights
and the breathless, over a jewel well. The jewel well acretes onto their
armor and vanishes.
Orhan 3 Day 32 TE 6062
We talk to Jar-Jar about where to find loot. He doesn't think that really
happens much.
The next morning, the Ring of Andraax starts glowing, and we get a message
from the boss (#1). "Why aren't you near the pyramid? Days ago? I
must have missed a few days in there somewhere. Stay where you are."
We await the coming of Secret Master #1.
He flies in Superman style. He has a flight belt. Cool. We prepare a
silent tent for him to talk to us in.
"Right! It's time to talk."
We speak of many things. He tells us that by now we should have been
in the past, etc...
As you know, Ondoval intends to steal or destroy the southern Eye. Once
he does so, the barrier will be released. The remaining Lords of Essence
in the Eastern Hemisphere will be free to take over the universe. We must
not allow that to happen. (There are starship construction facilities
left across the galaxy to access.) Ondoval also has recovered the Shadowstone.
Only one weilding the SoulSword may defeat him. As for that, arrangements
have been made. We will not be called upon to weild the soulsowrd, but
will be needed to participate in the assault on Ondoval's bastion.
Other than ourselves, all the military we can bring to bear will be needed.
The time frame is uncertain, as we must wait for Ondoval to recover from
his wounds from his last assault. He's very powerful and tough, but wounds
he does sustain are correspondingly harder to heal. Andraax suspects we
have a couple more years.
His island is honeycombed with Lugraki and other servant slave races.
Every single man we can raise will be needed. There will be logistical
issues of transporting them.
He suggests we master the book of gates to arrange transport for the
armies.
We'll be needed to lead the armies, but when it comes time to reach the
actual citidel, only those who are of the strongest personal will and
abilities can survive, so we will need to participate in that raid. He'll
inform us when he knows more. We can in fact expect more of that turning
the magic
When drawn, the soulsword protect a nullmagic field around it's weilder,
thus protecting it's weilder and his companions from the effects of the
Shadowstone.
He hands us each a blaster, a belt, and a plasma weapon (lightsaber weapons,
sword, morningstar, staves, plasma jata, etc.). Practice with these, but
do not actually use them under any circumstances until the final battle.
If they are known, we will be instant targets, but they also have limited
power. The belts are 100DB force fields. (Alynna can use her blaster as
she acquired that separately.) Don't use anything else.
As far as emporers and the like, he doesn't care. If it helps us build
the army, we should feel free to indulge ourselves.
If we need to reach him, we should either try to contact the Storm Wizard
or Voorig Kye. The three of them had a meeting a number of years ago.
Reveal only what we need to the other Loremasters. They are definitely
infiltrated.
We brief him on the Terrans and the Brotherhood of the Word, etc. He
suspects some of our cousins from other systems have arrived. They are
not particularly relevant to anything. They have a research station in
orbit. (Think of it as a very small moon.) They don't understand magic
yet. They can't come down in any significant number due to the barrier.
The overall plan is to try and strike an Ondoval as he is trying to steal
the southern eye. Perhaps we could recover the Northern eye while he steals
the Southern. The whole theory that there is a thrid replacement eye somewhere
is a backup plan we need not worry about. Check.
He doesn't have anything for us to do here in Foleen. The critical thing
was going to the past. Oh yeah, speaking of the past, don't expect Lorgalis
to hold back any further. He engineered the burglary of our villa to annoy
us, but couldn't strike more directly than that before. He was holding
back because he too was afraid of paradox. Now he doesn't need to restrain
himself. Lorgalis himself is a half-dyar half-ca'ta'vrri, level 70 seer/mystic/archmage.
The boss is level 131 seer/mystic/mentalist. The gods are using a lot
of their power to prop up the functions of the Northern Eye and guard
the Southern Eye, so they won't be able to do too much directly.
The duskwalkers are not something for us to worry about. Not worth trying
to contact.
The chaos of the secret circle is not really an area we should get involved
with... We should feel free to move against Lorgalis if we think we can.
We should only rouse the Emerian Emporer early if we can assure he'll
be cooperative when the time arrives.
He steps outside, we follow.
Jar-Jar, Harry, and Sally are screaming for help as several Breathless
are there. Andraax holds up his hand and a sunflare comes out of his hand
and slices them all apart at waste level. The Breathless were probably
sensing him. He shouldn't stay long. He casts a spell and whooshes off
flying.
We all get a bonus level! We get another fate point for meeting the boss
in addition to the one we got for the level.
Dev blaster as if it were missile category but a master warrior weapon.
Dev plasma melee weapons as if they were master warrior weapons. Book
of gates book 1 must be devved up to 10 ranks before gates book 2 can
be started.
Orhan 3 Day 52 TE 6062
We exit through the bladestorm. Oathar stands there on the prow with
his 187 and says let me have it! He takes a 55 ESES as the blade storm
lets him have it.. Embedded in his leg is a six inch diameter silvery
sphere with several blades sticking out of it. It's the Attack Sphere.
Imre reattaches his leg. Haeraan does the same and gets a 245. This gives
him a 30EKEK and the Helm of the Weapon Master. Kyrik gets a 137 giving
him a 19CP and the Eternal Scroll. He too dies, but is saved by fate...
Imre finally buckles to peer pressure and heads out there. Imre rolls
a 96. He takes six points and gets a magic belt.
We survive the storm.
Orhan 4 Day 22 TE 6062
We return to Selkai.
