Next time, we head deeper. Sigh.
Well, we should rest and regain mojo.
Haeraan has some dreams. There's not really any useful advice on picking
which portal to use. Machin Shin is waiting for us in the City that Waits.
(We're doomed!) We didn't miss anythign important here.
Orhan 1 Day 38 TE 6063
We play some games with the mouths of anihilation and decide that we
should just leap in. Woo! Into the sphere, we leap!
We find ourselves at the intersection of three bridges. Wacky. It's vast,
dark, and frightening. Yeah, that's bad. Thre's an obelisk with runes...
We read it. Ascerak mocks us and gives us a verse.
"The city that waits was the city of Moil. Where dreams truly
died, but bodies yet toil. In slumber unrelenting, they lie yet in wait.
Biding their time to seal your fate.
Discovery of the void and my fortress within, demands exploration
through peril again. Find amid towers degenerate the single key, and resolve
the dilemna of problems three.
Beard the brine dragon in its frozen hallow, remove the key, avoid
its starved swallow. Beneath webs of glowing emerald, hangs a riddle box
rife to be solved.
The darkweaver endures the cold in her lair, grasp your fate with
consumate care. The lifeless dream that marks the crime, is the vestage
that guards the sand of time.
Each resolution removes one obsticle, for those who peruse this written
oracle. The phantom released flies you in fashion, to my inevitable fortress
of conclusion."
Oh dear. We're doomed again. Well, let's get on with it then. We try
the center of the three paths first. We get rid of the ice on some doors
and cast several deciper spells on the text, but sadly, it seems to be
random. Haeraan searches a rubble pile and finds 10 gold. Yay! The coins
themselves are from something like 1000 years ago. It's Scaluu money.
Oathar finds a gold. Alynna finds 15 gold. Kyrik finds a rock. We search
some more. After exhaustively searching every rubble pile here, we find
140 gold pieces total.
Oathar casts iron sight and starts looking through doors. There's a closet,
a 20 foot corridor and another door, the other leads into a room. One
door on the side of the central room has a large chamber with tumbled
tables and stools and the like.
We head into what appears to be a wrecked bar. Oathar casts curse tales
on the entire city and then has to sit down for a while and take a break.
Imre sits in one of the empty chairs. Carved into the table is something
that says Dessitasso was here. There's some green liquid in a bottle,
and a goblet at his place. Imre pours himself a shot of absinthe. Oathar
prepares to say "I told you so!" Imre drinks it down anyways.
Imre starts hearing voices and the glass is stuck to his hand. Now Oathar
says, "I told you so." Yeah, he's losing it. Woo! Absinthe,
it's so cool. The goof.
Imre starts having visions about wandering around a casino and looking
for the high rollers room. Imre starts walking around with Kyrik portalling
the doors as he goes. We end up at what appears to be a decrepit poker
table. Sigh. Imre sits at the table. We search the rubble. High up in
the room is a mirror. As soon as we see it, people start vanishing (in
the teleporting out sense).
Imre checks it out and figures out that Haeraan, Oathar, and Alynna are
stuck in a mirror of soul imprisonment. Imre realizes that the chair he's
sitting in is the control chair, so if he has the command word he could
free us and geas us at the same time.
Yup, we sure are trapped. Oh woe. Imre starts playing with the cards
he's found on the floor.
While trapped, Oathar attempts to console himself by counting his loot.
But his 600,000gp stuff is actually only worth 10,100 gp. Gah!!!!
Imre considers smashing the mirror, which would either free everyone
inside simultaneously, or kill everyone inside.
Imre and Kyrik sit down to play cards at the table. Kyrik loses. There's
a dinging sound. Kyrik looks up. He gets sucked into the mirror, and Imre
hears the command word from above!
Imre is getting ready to release everyone from the mirror. But first
he must consider carefully the geases he's planning to put on everyone.
Oathar is released first and commanded to speak nicely about Imre. Alynna
gets released and commanded to hug Imre. Awwww.... Kyrik gets released
and commanded to take a nice picture of Imre. Haeraan gets released last,
and is commanded by Imre to attack his good friend Oathar (with a small
stick). He's so mean.
We search some of the other rooms here in the high rollers area. Alynna
find another room with a table with a frozen body on it with the shards
of a ceiling mirror scattered all about. The body starts standing up and
Haeraan's morning star gets ready to attack. He attack it. The zombie
dies. Imre tells it to stay down. Well.
We start tryng other doors. They are empty rooms. We bash our way back
to the central corridor and start heading down. On the bottom step is
a satchel of material components. Imre searches it. Inside the bag, in
addition to lot's of wacky arcane components there is a seal. The symbol
on the seal is the same as the symbol on teh door of one of the instructors
way back in the necromancer dude ranch. Huh. We head deeper. In the room
are sculptures of wire in human form with a stone tablet. "...and
by which token you are accounted guests in the tower of chance....
