In which our heroes ...
Orhan 1 Day 43 TE 6063
Imre puts it back on, but will be hobbling for 2 days.
We fail to rest for two days so Oathar can walk again before continuing.
Orhan 1 Day 44 TE 6063
We proceed deeper into the dungeon. We find a door with several gems.
Dessitasso (through time vision) shows us the way through the archway,
so we proceed... A demon attacks us. It's type VI. We fight!
We win! Yay! (Haeraan decapitates him.)
We continue.
We enter a room with an undead statue. It tries to attack and Imre unstones
it. It vanishes.
We loot: 500 silver, 750 gold, 3 jeweled rings, quarterstaff +25 (casts
fireball 1/day) , broadsword (cursed).
We continue.
We find a small laboratory with lot's of alchemical componets and a crystal
vessel. There a nightwing sort of evil crature crushed into the vessel.
It's a demon of course. From beyond the pale.
He asks for our help. He tells us to hurry and release him before his
son gets back. He gives us leave to take up his sword and free the demon.
We decide to do neither of these things. At least, that was the plan.
But then the demon starts talking to Kyrik. It turns out that only Kyirk
would truly be worthy of the demon's sword.
There are horrible sounds from the room ahead. Lot's of undead lining
both walls of the hall. Oh dear. There's a clear space about 4 feet wide
winding through the massive pile of undead. Haeraan turns on his Holy
Aura. They try to get Haeraan but his aura mostly keeps them off him.
Down the corridor he finds another unspeakable laboratory. He makes the
mounds of undead mad though so they start swarming him. He wades his way
out with his paladin powers.
Eventually we decide that is the only way left so we charge down the
corridor of endless undead. We enter a chasm with a glowing red crystal
suspended above the floor. It's got a chasm in the middle.
After a bout 15 seconds the voice of death says "Through hazard
and danger you have made you way here.... our souls were purified now
to stand before Ascerak." We will provide the final catalyst for
his union with the unlife itself. Oh dear. A bejeweled skull descends.
It begins.
The lich/skull/thing attacks the paladin's morningstar first. Hmm, it
seems pretty smart. At the end of every round, he attempts to remove someones
soul from their body. Kyrik is first, and aoids his fat with three fate
points. Oh dear lord.
Haeraan unloads a Repel Undead XX. It ignores him. It then tries to remove
Imre's soul, but Imre has that one time save your soul thinger.
Of course, that doesn't help him the second time. He eats Imre's soul.
Oh dear.
Finally, we shatter the skull. Ascerak claims he'll be back as he dies.
Oathar blasts the phylactery with the wand of sunlight. "I AM UNDONE!
for now...."
The ground starts shaking. The crystal prison is shattered by Oathar
releasing the souls that are trapped. Imre is drawn towards the light.
As the walls collapse around us, the phantom flier carries us off. Eventually,
it deposits us on an archway sitting on a little platform. We go through
the archway. We end up at the first archway in the original tomb.
We teleport home. Imre's souls heads to the garden of the gods. (He walked
into the light. Sigh.)
We get 15 talent points. All talent point expenditures must be approved.
