In which our heroes ...
Orhan 2 Day 63 TE 6064
They're up to hundreds of sacrifices a week, and the royal treasury
is empty, we're getting smote. We'll withdraw from everywhere, if you'll
get rid of Sendar and Sendil.
We are left to consider.
We discuss our options. We mostly settle on the one presented to us.
Kill Sendar and Sendil, and get Lankonok out of the war business for
a while.
We teleport to Selkai. We go to talk to Gireg Jan.
We explain the plan. He asks if we can take Sendar and Sendil. Oathar
assures him that both 1) we can, and 2) he's the overconfident one.
Sendar is a Priest/Sorcerer. Sendil is a Seer/Mystic. They can pray
to get a direct connection to Klysus or Akalatan if they cooperate.
We send a note to Voorig Kye asking him for advice on the last time
Sendar and Sendil were here. That evening, Kye's ambasador shows up at
our villa. We have some small talk. We brief him on our problem and ask
for advice.
He says, "Well, Voorig Kye mostly just ignored their spells
and breathed on them. I don't really think that's going to work for
you."
He does at least recall that they are surprisingly resistant, but are
certainly not undefeatable by any means. Oh, but don't forget the primal
blasts. Oathar and Imre brief the party on primal blasts.
Orhan 2 Day 64 TE 6064
Vast emergency shopping appears. Details of the treaty we'll propose.
- We kill S&S.
- They withdraw from Pocantos and NK.
- The sign peace treaties with reasonable terms P and NK in good faith
with the intention to keep to them.
- They return all prisoners unharmed.
We teleport back to Kenezan. We are met by the secret police. He takes
us to the Kurtum and High Priests of Akalatan. We discuss the treaty
with them. They want access to one port on the coast. They propose making
one port from Nuyan Kom an open city with free access to the port.
Oathar and the Kurtum sign the treaty in the presense of Akalatan and
Neela. Great.
They say they'll get us into the temple of the sun tomorrow night after
the sacrifices. We'll get briefed and taken into the temple of the sun.
We have to get to Sendar and Sendil ourselves.
Oathar dips his cloak into the pool of Neela and prays while sacrificing
1000 gold. It glows slightly. Orhan 2 Day 65 TE 6064
The day of chopping arrives. We disguise ourselves and male Lankani
5th level priests. We show up.
Several guys show up. They have a bunch of robes of Akalatan for us
to wear, etc. AT2 priest robes. Holy symbols of Akalatan. The works.
Follow us.
They lead us through the city into the great courtyard to the pyramid
of the sun. We are taken to the base of the pyramid. There are steps
leading up. "At the top of the steps is the platform. There are five
inlays there. Four gold and one silver. Hold down the four gold and press
the silver. This causes the platform to descend. Once inside the central
chamber: west are priest quarters, east are underground sacrifices, south
is the archives/library, north leads to a pair of sentinals (torcs of
priests of Klysus needed to pass), a cleansing chamber and then the passage
turns east and goes to the throne room. The twins are likely there. They
have a bedchamber off the throne room.
Our plan: Go inside, change on the way down, go went to the priests
quarters and steal 5 torcs, then head to throne room.
We equip and start the mission.
We head into the priest quarters. There are six. They are waking up
due to our tears of Eissa. We start putting them down. Wow, those Tears
of Eissa really work. We get a bunch of torcs. Imre covers the bodies
with illusions. We take five torcs and head out.
We head back to the middle. then we go north past the sentinels. Yay
tocs. We get to the washing chamber. We swap our torcs for other items.
We get to the throne room. 50x50x30'. Holes at the top. Pair of golden
thrones. Pair of doors on either side near the thrones. Big red carpet.
Tapestries with sacrifice scenes along the walls. One of the doors opens
as we come in and a young woman comes out. She looks at us dreamily while
saying, "Why do you not wear the torcs?" She has golden robes and a tiara,
with a jeweled dagger at her side.
Her tiara flashes and she says "Sendar doesn't like it when you lie."
We fight!
Oathar seals us in the room so reinforcements don't come. Sendil is
AT20 DB130. She turns invisible, but Alynna tags her to make her visible
again. Kyrik spends a fate point on his attack but she negates it.
Sendar appears. Golden robes and golden sun torc with a scimitar. Sendil
screams and seems furious at us for not being dead already. They reach
for each other and touch. We take damage from our beneficial spells.
Sigh. Ouch. Imre heals us while we keep attacking.
Sendil heals herself and Sendar puts a shield around her. Then he casts
some horrible Black Channels but we all resist. Imre determines that
his shield is a damage reflector so we switch to Sendar. Sendil heals
herself some more.
More fighting next time...
