In which our heroes ...
Orhan 2 Day 49 TE 6065
We shop.
Orhan 2 Day 50 TE 6065
We inform Haeraan of these doings. He thinks these things are pretty screwed
up.
Haeraan asks for dreams about:
1) What hold did the JA gain over Kyrik for saying yes? It's Kieronalia
and Selkai is ablaze in celebration. Naked people running everywhere.
In the great courtyard of the temple of Kieron stands Kyrik. He glistens
in the firelight. The dancing women around him have silk scarves.
As the scarves build up around him they solidify. Then they become ropes
and they dance around him wrapping him up in these silk ropes.
2) Is there more Kyrik learned and forgot about that incident that could
be recovered through dreams? Kyrik is sitting in a library. We walk up
to him and the book in front of him is blank. He doesn't notice though.
Everyonce in a while, he flips a page and there is writing but it fades
away. The writing returns when it flips over though.
3) How do we get rid of his corruption points? Kyrik stands in front of
a giant structure. It's a gleaming glass and stone structure. Inside are
books and scrolls and encyclopedia galactica terminals, etc. He picks up
a rock and throws it a the library; it hits a pain and the whole thing
comes down while Kyrik turns around and walks away.
Imre writes a note to Voorig Kye "Mutual friend with large sword and poor
interview skills: "There is a hole in my mind." Can you help?"
Orhan 2 Day 51 TE 6065
Imre and Oathar go to Karilon to reserach the Isle of Fire, Zanar, and
Nanaku. The order of Zanar was taken over by Eissa as they couldn't talk
to Zanar anymore. The high priest was told that Eissa was a woman though
and the high priest was tricked into changing their channeling focus to
the crystal of the JA. The high priests can raise the dead by there are
side effects. Inquisitors search for enemies of Zanar. They cast Excommuncation
upon them. Or just make them burst into flame. They travel in pairs. The
lord high priest is Vogo Cthon Reval. He's cruel and depraved.
Nanaku is
a volcano god. He was imprisoned in a sphere of laen. The removal of the
northern eye let him escape. He hates followers of Cay.
We fill out some forms to view the materials on the Jerak Arenrath's crystal.
We get delivered a book with a big brass lock and a key. We open it. The
book has a preservation spell, a cancel channeling spell, and a silence
spell on it, to make sure you don't accidentally read from it. A description
of the Arenreth. The description of the passages don't really match up
wtih what we remember, but the book is quite old and the place has probably
been redone since then. It does describe the room with the crystal pillars
(anti-magic holding devices) with items people and all sorts of stuff in
there. The other thing it describes is the great focus crystal. It's 8
feet tall giant clear crystal. It's the power focus and the flow nexus
underneath Votania. There's an addendum at the end of it in Andraax's light
blue pen saying "I have returned to the cavern. The crystal has
been perverted. The guardians now stand before blackness. The guardian
mind is corrupted. I sense a curse from beyond the pales. The blood of
1000s of innocents now runs through the glow of the crystal. It's shards
have splintered grown and now form seven other corrupt points. My failure
mocks me. I must flee."
Sigh.
Imre goes to find Giren Jan, who is in residence. Gireg attempts to escape
but fails. Imre asks him about the isle of fire. Gireg clarifies that the
guardian mind is a giant supercomputer and it was cursed from beyond the
pale to be unintelligible. It's still in the crystal, but can't communicate.
The priesthood of Zanar pray to the crystal and give the JA their power
thereby.
We regroup at home and plot. Oathar proposes we just put ourselves at
Alynna's disposal and enact a Stalwart Plan! After much awkward discussion,
Alynna heads off to pray to Cay. She gets a vision of the artic north.
A voice echoes in the wind, "Look and Learn." She
turns and sees a crater in the ground. Around the crater, trees are blasted
down in all directions. Amonst the trees, some new growth has grown up,
but it's still clearly a crater. In the middle of the crater is a mound
of snow and debris. Carefully approaching the center, Alynna looks around
and finds on a ground a large convex shard of laen lying there. She reaches
out and when she touches it recoils in pain from its sharpness. She gets
a higher-up view and in the distance sees a white structure like a dome
in the distance. Travelling there, she finds the Vault of the Northern
Eye. There's no answer when she knocks.
She wakes and comes to tell us about it. We must travel to the north and
recover the shard!
We estimate the Navigators will charge 10,000 gold for a jump or 1,000
gold to escort a sky ship. We pack up our warmest clothes, get a navigator,
probably one of the Pathmasters of Hulgan. We head north. It should be
fairly perilous, but seems to go OK. His mind's not what it used to be,
but we head up there.
Orhan 2 Day 56 TE 6065
The winds pick up and it's pesky. The navigator promises if we go down,
no one will ever hear about it.
Orhan 2 Day 58 TE 6065
We're getting near the pole. We're so bundled that it's AT8. Brrr....
Orhan 2 Day 60 TE 6065
We arrive!
Oathar doesn't quite see the crater we're looking for. There's
a lot of snow blowing about. We bring the skyship lower and Oathar finally
spots it. Oathar tells the ship to wait six hours and then go home. Meanwhile,
Kyrik is looking for the Vault of the Northern Eye. But there are too many
clouds to see it.
We leap out of the boat and cast Landing. There is lot's of snow. We find
the spot Alynna thinks she saw in her vision but we don't see it. Oathar
melts some of the snow, and Haeraan does a vision guide and looks behind.
Oathar also casts his various deduction skills. Trails come and go from
the southwest and it looks like things were taken that way. Meanwhile,
Haeraan sees a number of figures come out of the darkness. The Iron Wind!
Our favorite guys! They lumber out of the darkness and pick up the big
pieces of laen and take them off to the southwest.
We get back in the skyship and start trying to follow the path. 10-15
miles away, in the distance is a castle of some sort. A closer look indicates
it's a somewhat rundown castle. Upper ramparts are snow covered, etc. There's
definitely smoke coming from it. The tracks seem to go into it.
Oathar clarifies the beacon code with his captain. Into the castle we
trudge.
