Next time: field trip.

Before the field trip, Gireg Jan takes his time to complain about us some more.

We teleport on our field trip and show up at Elor's place. How mad is that?

Elor is waiting for us and invites us in. In the courtyard in the middle is standing the Nameless One with his four Changramai. Elor says, "Our visitors are here. Heh-heh-heh." Yeah, it's land of looney-tunes guys. Then another knock is heard, and in walks Andraax.

We say, "Orhan 3 Day 8 6063". He says, "Good, now shush."

Then the Nameless one shapeshifts from a Linaer to a Loar. Alynna thinks he's staggeringly old.

Andraax proclaims his innocence in this crazy affair. For once, it's totally not his fault. Elor thinks this is hilarious.

Andraax says, "Well, this wasn't the plan, but it's convenient, since I needed to talk to you." Then he introduces Tethior to us.

Andraax says to Tethior, "I was serious, you will help me or else." Tethior grumbles.

Andraax goes on a little walk with Tethior while Elor entertains us.

Oathar asks Elor about Orbs of Rebirth. There's the one in Norek of course. But it's protecting the city. There are others of course, but they're invisible. Tethior could show us how to see them, but it would warp our minds. Elor gets us drinks.

Andraax returns in a good mood, but Tethior is all grumbly. Tethior thinks we're all doomed anyway, but Andraax will make sure it all works out in the end. Tethior asks if he's sure, and Andraax says there was a reason we had to take it away from Lorgalis's father.

Then Andraax and Elor take a walk. Elor aparently just got a new shipment in....

We talk to Tethior. He says he can easily rebuild the sphere, but wonders how we're going to get a dark god inside of it. Tethior tells us we should probably give up. Oathar explains that we are stalwart. Oathar asks if Tethior knows Nynaku's secret weakness, and is told, "Laen".

We ask him to forge us laen weapons. He says, "Sure, it won't help, but if you've got the laen, I'll make the weapons."

The party goes back to Selkai and Oathar buys 20 bars of laen from the alchemists guild.

Oathar asks Neela for a primal shield. She think fighting dark gods is madness. Alynna asks Cay about a primal fight, "While the wolf cub can chase the deer, he can not take it down until he is grown. It is not yet the time for you to directly confront the god of fire. Prepare and be ready. You can still succeed in doing things without wandering into the jaws of the enemy."

Gosh.

We gather up the sphere and gather up the laen and we teleport back to Elor's house. Tethior swats him. We tell Tethior that Cay said we shouldn't fight the dark god anyways, and Tethior says, "Oh, so you're willing to listen to voices in your head, but not me."

Omre asks Tethior about seeing Orbs of Rebirth. "You wish to delve into dark and deep knowledge? You understand it can cause a strain on the mind..."

Oathar gains the dark knowledge of seeing orbs of rebirth. Mostly it's a variant of Power Perception. You can see through the orb's SEP field. And of course, Oathar's meter ticks. Alynna takes the bitter cup.

Tethior tells us to check back in a month or so, or perhaps longer, since he might get bored.

We ask him about Orian. Yeah, that was him.

Then we take a tour of Elor's house. He's a loopy guy. He suggests if we want to get back into the good graces of the Loremasters the fast and easy way, all we have to do is die gloriously fighting the Unlife. Preferably while massively outnumbered. We notice that Elor is wearing the Wyvern sword.

Elor offers to share his dark knowledge with Kyrik, but Alynna thinks it's a bad idea. Since she has the bitter cup now, he listens. It'll only be a couple of hours.

We teleport home. Kyrik goes to check on Santa Vallandra to find a loremaster in meeting with James. Which one you say? Why none other than Andara Letharen recently of Selkai.

We head to see Gireg Jan. Oathar is assigned to Gireg. Haeraan is assigned to Andara. Kyrik is assigned to Anton. Alynna is assigned to Tevar. Imre is assigned to Maxim Pellax. Suddenly the door flies open. "Maxim Pellax has arrived! Together we shall boldly stride forth none shall stand before us." He starts teaching Imre how to stand arms akimbo. Then Tavar arrives and takes Alynna on as a pupil. Finally Andara shows up.

Tavar takes charge. But then Anton arrives. "Sorry, I'm late. Very busy."

Tavar takes charge again. We adjourn to our villa. The five loremasters discuss our fate. "Dispite this setback, things are still in motion." They all start reporting. Anton repeats all the information up in Zor about the evil brother plot. Then he talks about Mornan Xaon, etc. Andara talks about Santa Vallandra. She's taken stock there, and it looks like things are relatively under control. She can probably continue to disguise the army as local militia for a while. It shouldn't be a problem. Maxim says, "Maxim Pellax has been examining the situation across the world!" We expect the alliance to take over Itanis momentarily which they will use as their staging base to take over Kaitaine. We'll deal with Kaitaine later. Alliance agents have infiltrate the Loremasters. Gireg talks about local stuff.

Then Tavar says something inscrutible like, "The other threads are also moving." Anton asks Tavar "What about the thing?" "He still has it and won't give it up. This had better succeed."

Tavar has high hopes for us. Sadly, we don't have much of a contingency plan. Everyone will ahve to make some nominal appearance with their trainee. Everyone should keep their noses clean for a month.

They'll make sure we get to the situation in Zor.

We brief them about our trip to Terrania and the plasma cannon being shipped off to Ondoval. They hear about it and tell us it sounds more like an air defense laser.

Haeraan needs to hang out with Andara in SV. Maxim Pellax promises Imre adventure and excitement with the tower. Gireg Jan says, "Oathar, tomorrow we do the books." Anton tells Kyrik that he must go to Griffen College. Tavar points at Alynna and says, "Dawn!"

Kyrik sneaks out to talk to James. James is disappinted since his new loremaster is all cool and stuff. Kyrik talks James into being a Duke.

Orhan 2 Day 70 TE 6065

Next day, Gireg and Oathar balance the books.

Tavar beats up Alynna all day and then starts showing her all of his ridiculous weaponry.

Anton takes Kyrik to the college where he is forced to sit in on the ongoing zorian/rakhanni trade/border negotiations. All day. About 2/3 through, Kyrik fails a bunch of SD rolls. He can either stab himself, leap out the window, or attempt to teleport away. He freaks out and leaps out the window. Anton is shocked. He's just shocked. Meanwhile Kyrik hits the ground. He takes a 20B Krush. The Krush cracks some ribs -25. The urge to kill himself stops at least.

Andara and Haeraan review the history of Santa Vallandra. Then Baron James shows up and tells them he's going to be a duke by the authority of the Emporer on Ice. Then Andara and Haeraan sit down to discuss the deeper history of Santa Vallandra. It's all explained. James finds out he doesn't get to be emporer. After that, James says I get to be a duke right. Andara has several ideas to manipulate records and things to make the army look not at all like an army.

Maxim gives Imre drama training. The dawn light is very important for highlighting the arrival of a departing flying tower. They stanp atop the tower Captain Morgan style and zoom around. Haeraan sends a photo of the scene to Oathar to taunt him. Then they discuss the important of mounts. Imre tries to summon his riding beetle, but Maxim finds that a little icky. They discuss griffins, riding beetles etc.

Oathar finds that Gireg is secretly maintaining the resources of the secret group of loremasters to keep their activities off of the main loremaster books. He's got more shell companies than Oathar. Lot's of extensive holdings. They own all sorts of things in Selkai, including Trevors and a bunch of other places. They're one of the investors in the CBSK, Tamingers. They've also made a bunch of loans to houses in Halkataine, morek, Kaitaine, etc. They invested heavily in the reconstruction of Ulyshak. They use the monestery for money laundering. gireg also owns several businesses in Santa Vallandra. Wow. He has investments up and down Haestra, Tovor, Orian, Izar, Sarnak.

Simlarly, Andara shows Haeraan how to disguise his stuff in SV. How to set up recruitment stations while hiding them, etc. He can increase the army by another 200-300 easily. Andara asks Imre to move his tower out of town.

Imre gets more lesson on saying Ta-da!

Kyrik is brought to a mental specialist. Then they let him back into the negotiations. There's a lot of discussion about natural resources. He also gets acess to the Griffin college library.
