In which our heroes ...
Orhan 2 Day 44 TE 6053
Suddenly, a dimensional portal opens and whoa! D., Imre, Oathar, and
Haeraan are sucked right in! Arrgghh!
When we come to our senses we're in front of a giant rock face on the
water. We do some navigation and realize that we are somehow in Northern
Jaiman, somewhat to the west. Imre say, "Hey that's where the tunneling
rock worms live! We'd better be careful." Oathar says, "Rockworms?
Are they dangerous?" Imre: "Well, they can usually be avoided
as long as you don't go near any rock faces.
We fly up the cliff, being careful to avoid the actual rock face. At
the tope is a giant gatehouse, with a 40 foot high stone wall, with towers
in the corners. Looking carefully, we notice that most of the city appears
to be in ruins. There's one overgrown park and a couple of large buildings,
but mostly it's all destroyed. Inside the city, there's another walled
complex, but the outer wall has a couple of large holes in it. Oathar
scouts and says that Tradewind senses wolves down there in the city. He
also thinks there' ssomething else, but he can't tell what.
Haeraan casts "Det enemies" on the city and crashes to his
knees under the vast return. Ghouls, wights, fire phantoms, ghosts, zombies,
ghost wolves, skeletons, and wraiths abound.
Imre thinks about it and remembers that these are famous ruins. Before
they became ruins, the city, called Quellburn, was ruled by a council
of mages. They probably all died and left good loot.
We decide to not go near the place at night. Suddenly, the sun sets.
Luckily, there's a full moon. Unluckily, it's Charon.Sigh.
We back off some. We set some watches and sleep near the edge of the
doomed city. Meanwhile, Haeraan asks Rianne for a dream telling him exactly
how to deal with the city without being too cowardly. Haeraan gets a dream.
It has lot's of symbols in it. The symbols are scattered across some sort
of board. Behind each symbol is a glowing sheen of something. Maybe it's
a gem or a coin or a magic item. Other stuff is in the dream, but it's
mysterious. (glowing exits, old guy wandering in a maze, etc.) He thinks
that one of the symbols are the symbols of local gods. (Symbols: Hooded
eye, ghost shape, figure of a man, fleurdlis, star, circle in four quadrants,
multicolored cloud, flask, starburst, hourglass, open hand, many faceted
gem. The open hand is the one that reminds Haeraan of a local god.)

The next day, we head in!
Suddenly we are attacked by the yellow eyes coming out of the darkness.
It's a pack of wolves. Imre puts them all to sleep. Who knew! Vallandra
kills them.
We find a barracks and a sealed armory. Haeraan detects greater skeletons
in the barracks. The armory has fire phantom. We pick the lock to the
door of the big armory and start heading in. Look! It's a fire phantom.
We kill it and start going through the stuff. It doesn't appear to have
anything of interest. We explore the armory building some more. D. gets
eviscerated by a door. Pesky trapped doors. We heal her.
