About the Symposium
The MIT-Haiti Symposium will take place on Oct 21-22. 15 key Haitian educational and political leaders and 35 MIT faculty will meet intensely over two days with the intent of triggering concrete and constructive project-based partnerships between Haiti, MIT, and MIT's partners in Open Education Research (OER) and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for education.
In response to the challenge presented by the destruction of Haitian universities by the earthquake of January 12, 2010, a silver liniing among the tragedy is the opportunity to rebuild Haiti universities for the future. These future universities will be able to make quality education available to greater numbers of Haitians in more (geographically and socio-economically) diverse sectors of Haitian society.
The Symposium is limited to invited Haitian and MIT participants, however the public is invited to an Open House on Friday Oct 22, 3:15 - 5:00pm. There will a short presentation summarizing the Symposium findings at approximately 4:15.
