Lecture: Papermaking Lecturer: Richard Alexander
Ever wonder how paper is made? Come learn about it from a world renown professional paper-maker.

Lecture: Paper Choice Lecturer: Erik DeGiorgi

Ever wonder where many origami designers find the paper that they use to create display-quality models? Is regular kami not cutting it for that new complex model you're working on? We will be presenting and discussing the pro's and con's of different types of high-quality origami paper including Lokta, Unryu, Elephant Hide, Mulberry, Tant, Origamido, Tissue Foil, and more. We will bring samples of each type of paper as well as some models folded from each, and we will also discuss wet-folding and back-coating paper with Methylcellulose. We will also provide information on local and online stores where this paper can be ordered from, and finally there be a live back-coating demonstration.

Lecture: Shovel-Folding Design Lecturer: Wensdy Whitehead
This lecture outlines a box-pleating method of origami design we will call "shovel-folding". This process has been used to design hundreds of models. In addition to discussing the method, students will also learn to fold the word "FOLD" using the process.

Lecture: Representational Origami Design I & II Lecturer: Jason Ku

This lecture is designed to be a crash course introduction designing and analyzing representational origami. The tree method of origami design with respect to uniaxial bases will be introduced, as well as concepts of space allocation and polygon packing. Further, we will discuss how to extract information from existing crease patterns to analyze their structure. Part I will cover basic tree theory and crease pattern analysis. Part II will delve deeper into these topics and will emphasize specific topics of interest to those attending.
