Each clue is written in an expanded version of the font used in the Snellen eye chart. This is also clued by “seeing” in the title and “2020” in the flavor text. Although there are multiple versions of the Snellen chart, one version is predominant. It’s findable on Wikipedia, among other sources.
Each clue has the same number of letters as the answer it’s cluing. The relative font size of each letter in the clue matches that of the row in which the corresponding letter of the answer is to be found. Tracing the path of the answer word on the chart results in a letter.
