The purpose of MIT Student Cable is to first and foremost provide quality programming for the MIT community. In doing this, members learn and teach the skills involved with television production, including camera work, directing, writing, acting, and even repairs. These skills combined with members' creativity are what makes MITV (MIT's only student-run cable channel) possible.

Unlike other college television stations, which are controlled and staffed by communications schools, the station is run entirely by students.
MITV reaches more people than any other student-run media outlet at MIT. Through MIT's Cable Television system's 4,000+ cable outlets, MIT Student Cable broadcasts to all campus buildings, living groups, and select off-campus FSILGs. MITV operates on channel 36 on MIT Cable's channel lineup.

MIT Student Cable are always looking for new people. Even if you've never used a VCR before, you're qualified and welcome to join the MIT Student Cable Group.
The MIT Student Cable Group consists solely of members of the MIT community. Anyone affiliated with MIT can become a member by participating with our group. MIT Student Cable are constantly undertaking new projects, and can always use a hand.
