0:50:33 Report on Hostages

White House Efforts to free all of the American hostages held
in Lebanon continued behind the scenes in
		   Washington today

Bush Late last week, President Bush said we may be
seeing a break in the stalemate over the hostages.
And as evidence, he pointed to actions by Iranian
officials to assist in the release of those
		   captives.
		   BUSH SPEAKS
Cicippio In fact, Hezbollah, the Moslem group holding
hostage Joseph Cicippio admits that they delayed
his execution out of respect to the nations with whom
		   the US pleaded for help.

Sunset/rise It is not known specifically which nations exerted
the most influence on the Hezbollah and Iran,
Ships but Japan was among those contacted by the United
States, and it's a country that uses millions of
dollars' worth of Iranian oil each year.
