DESCRIPTION:Aground in the desert near the Salton Sea – a sea below sea level, more than 30 miles long, formed in 1905 when the Colorado River flooded and breached a dike. The remains of failed resorts and abandoned yacht clubs stand along the shore. Lange did not photograph the sea.
