DESCRIPTION: Carl and Lorene Walker grew up in the 1920s and 1930s on farms their families homesteaded in New Mexico before they married and settled in the Yakima Valley in the 1940s, Carl to a job with the Soil Conservation Service, Lorene a home economist organizing 4-H programs for rural youth. Carl introduced spray irrigation to the region.
