LOCATION: Irrigon, Morrow County, OR
DESCRIPTION: Old railroad station, small farming town, pop. 1,702. To celebrate the National Reclamation Act of 1902, the town of Stokes changed its name that year to Irrigon (combining irrigate and Oregon). There are no railroad tracks now, and the front of the building is vacant, but someone is living at the back. I bought a bottle of water from the lady selling tacos out of the truck; “It’s a good location,” she told me.
