Lourdes Alemán worked with MIT’s STAR program as a biology educator and research scientist. In Professor Graham Walker’s Education Group, she helped develop and evaluate teaching materials for StarBiochem, StarGenetics, and StarCellBio.
With Alison Brauneis and STAR developer Sara Bonner, Alemán helped extend StarBiochem for high school biology lessons. She joined MIT’s Teaching + Learning Lab in 2017, where her staff profile describes her work supporting teaching and learning across the Institute.
She and Brauneis also took part in MIT-Haiti biology teaching workshops. A 2015 MIT News account documents the initiative’s translation of STAR and other digital teaching tools into Kreyòl.
