Stacie Bumgarner was a research scientist in Professor Graham Walker’s MIT Education Group. She first used StarGenetics in her teaching at Suffolk University, then joined the MIT group in September 2010 to help develop STAR tools and biology curriculum.
Bumgarner and Lourdes Alemán worked to adapt STAR activities for high school science classes. Bumgarner also collaborated with developer Ivica Ceraj on a garden pea interface for StarGenetics, allowing students to explore Mendelian inheritance through simulated crosses.
