Travels New York-Burlington, VT
December, 2002 Northeast Roadtrip |
The next day it was time to return home, the long way. If I only knew which way it was it would have been helpful to plot a direct route. Although that would violate the premise of a road trip I didn't know this would qualify as one at the time. I wanted to head toward Jay so that meant north. The Taconic goes north. I've never driven the Taconic all the way up. I highly recommend it. Stopped off at Franklin's to use the head. I didn't make it all the way up I87 and as it turns out this would require that I modify my ski plans (although plan is a strong word to use here). It's just too depressing as dusk begins to set in (yes, I'm wasting a lot of time) to arrive at Plattsburgh. There was a sign that said Champlain bridge. I really like the one on US2 so I thought I would give this one a try. The sign ommitted the mileage. I got tired of driving on US7 in Burlington. Time to spend the night. No cell or pager service. Just food and sleep. The funny part was that the folks at the next table were discussing this new skateboard snowboard thing. I was an informed eavesdropper. I wound up at Sugarbush since it was a lot closer to where I was and I hadn't been there before. A nice-sized mountain that gave me plenty to do for the day.
And it was cold. |
