Northeast Roadtrip
Jon & Anne's.

The modified plan had me meeting Jon and Anne at their new house in New Hampshire but they were in Boston at the time. The time to kill allowed me to grab a bite to eat in Montpelier then head over. Jon's comment to me was not to take I89 across since it dipped too far south of their place. Out of Montpelier I see US302E. I didn't have a map of New Hampshire that I can display alongside the one I had of Vermont (necessary to find Sugarbush without losing valuable ski time) so I really had no idea what I was doing. I bet it would have been an awesome drive in the daytime. At least the ipod was charged. Burn the extra 25 miles and go via Condord if you care about time.

I pop out in Littleton and then realize where I have driven 302 before. Well, I was now in the right state now. As it turns out, Jon meant don't take I89 through NH but I had a different state of reference. Nothing another hour or two of driving can't fix.

Jon & Anne's dock.

The house is in a great location. On the water of Winnipesaukee in not too rural of an area. 12 minutes to the Gunstock driveway to parking lot (yes, we timed it).

Gunstock, NH.

Jon and I skied Gunstock for the day. It wasn't as "local ski area" as I expected and got to do some bumps. In general I have been shying away from northeastern skiing in recent years and have become quite the western powder snob. Although my edges are dull getting some practice skating and slamming the bumps wasn't such a bad idea. There was enough left over from the storm that made it manageable. The Tahoe-esque views are cool.

Jon.

We went to the local 8-plex to see Star Trek N (I lost count after the whales) before heading home. They should stick to TV shows.
