TOPIC

When I connect my Apple 14 inch Macintosh Color Display to my Quadra 610 DOS Compatible system I notice that there are horizontal wavy lines across the screen when I am in the DOS/Windows environment. There is no problem when I work in the Macintosh environment. How can I correct this?

DISCUSSION

Some customers using an Apple 14 inch Macintosh Color Display with a Macintosh Quadra 610 DOS Compatible, or a DOS Compatibility Card may experience video noise in the DOS/Windows environment when using a single monitor.

The symptom associated with this problem is noticeable horizontal wavy lines or flickering on the edges of the video when in the DOS/Windows environment. This anomaly is only associated with DOS Compatible card customers using the Apple 14-in. Macintosh Color Display in a single monitor configuration. The wavy lines and flickering is caused by interference on the horizontal sync line of the display.

Version 1.2 or later of the PC Setup control panel corrects this problem and is included as part of the Custom install in System Update 3.0. Once System Update 3.0 is installed, the "Fade Screens" option must be selected in the PC Setup control panel in order to enable the fix. System Update 3.0 is available from many online services including the internet, and from the Apple Order Center at 1-800-950-5382.
