I am the Patrick J. McGovern (1959) Professor at the MIT Sloan School, affiliated with the Operations Management group and the ORC. My research is focused on optimization and inference in large-scale stochastic systems (ranging from supply chains to protein networks). I serve on the editorial boards of Management Science (where I co-edit the Data Science Area), Operations Research, and the Informs Journal on Optimization.
I received a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. My advisor was Prof. Benjamin Van Roy.
Outside of academia, I was most recently co-founder/CTO at Celect (acquired by Nike). I serve on several technology startup advisory boards, and have worked in various capacities in quantitative finance and private equity.
