Workshop: Using Visualization in Teaching Introductory E&M

AAPT National Summer Meeting, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

SCHEDULE

 

 

1.00 - 1.10 :  Introduction

 

 

1.10 - 1.30 :  Individual intros, break into groups of 6, choose partners for next activity.

 

 

1.30 - 2.15 :  Activity using Faraday’s law simulation. Work in pairs.

 

 

2.15 - 2.40 :  Discussion based on Faraday’s law activity.

          Includes concept questions, other assessment questions, participants’ views  

          on effectiveness, format, adaptation.

 

 

2.40 - 2.50 :  Break

 

 

2.50 - 3.45 :  Design an activity based on a simulation. Work in groups of 3. 

 

 

3.45 - 4.30 :  Present your activity to rest of workshop. 5 minutes per group.

 

 

4.30 - 4.50 :  Final synthesis and discussion.

 

 

4.50 - 5.00 :  Wrap-up and feedback.
