Biography

Will is a Connection Science Fellow with MIT Media Lab, and teaches at MIT part time on Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Will has a passion, as an entrepreneur, for delivering high-tech Mobile commerce and technology innovations to market.

Will is a serial entrepreneur and payment industry innovator. He founded and ran several successful companies, most recently OVLoop and previously Global Co-GM of Samsung Pay after Samsung acquired his last company LoopPay in February 2015. He is also currently serving on the board of Synchrony Financials (NYSE: SYF, largest private label credit card issuer in the world), he joined the SYF board as part of the largest public spin out in NYSE history, from GE. Will is also sitting on the board of several other high tech startups he has invested in. Prior to LoopPay Will was founder and CEO of ROAM Data, a leading mPOS solutions provider (acquired by Ingenico Group.) Prior to ROAM, Will was founder CEO of WAY Systems, world’s first pocket size point of sale solution for mobile merchants, (acquired by Verifone.) Prior to WAY, Will was founder and CEO of EntitleNet, a security software company (acquired by BEA Systems, later Oracle). Will earned two Masters degrees from MIT (MBA & MSEECS) after serving as a U.S. Navy Nuclear Submarine Officer for nearly 6 years, (first Chinese immigrant to do so after being naturalized as a US citizen in 1987.)

Interests

Volunteer at Plummer Home for Boys in Salem MA, teaching paddling in the ocean to troubled boys during the Spring and Summer. Volunteer coaching at youth wrestling in Saugus.

Organized numerous charity events as MWR Officer, including a 5 K Run to benefit Big Brother /Sister Program of Bravard County, Children’s Hospital Visits, serving Thanksgiving Dinners, etc.

Volunteered as assistant wrestling coach at a local high school while stationed a Bangor Sub-base.

Enjoy family activities with wife and 4 children, snow boarding, Outrigger Canoe paddling & racing, standup paddle board, martial arts (competed and won various wrestling and Judo tournaments) computers & electronics, motorcycles, basketball, also enjoy playing piano, guitar, singing, chess, and reading books in the areas of personal development (physical, mental, spiritual,) as well as history and biographies.
