URBAN NURSERY

The plants we chose to put in the urban nursery are generally
considered "weeds". They are

• Catalpa speciosa - Northern catalpa
• Ailanthus altissima - Tree of Heaven
• Acer x. platanoides - Planetree
• Gleditsia triacanthos - Honeylocust
• Acer rubrum - Red Maple

We chose these plants because we know that it is important to discover uses for plants that
have proven themselves hardy in tough city environments, like Catalpa and Ailanthus, to be used
more in the places that they grow best. The
nursery itself is not fenced in the usual way, but instead ,
we used Barberry (Berberis) and Firethorn (Pyracantha). These plants can be propagated
by the residents to protect their own gardens and flower beds from pets and such, as well. LOOK
