Lee Culture Center

44th and Haverford Avenue
Philadelphia, PA 1910
For the past several decades, the Lee Culture Center has been a locus for grass roots efforts in the West Philadelphia community. This two hundred year old mansion overlooks the Mill Creek watershed. The facility's history and geographical location makes it an ideal candidate for housing an installation called "Revealing the Urban Waters". This exhibition would tell Mill Creek stories of old and new to help increase environmental awareness. Photographs, storyboards, and other art projects from local students of all ages could be showcased. Art performances, music, and dance would be plentiful while the 'Celebration of Water" parade would highlight the summertime event . Local artists would collaborate with kids in making whimsical raincatchers. and murals. Surely an annual event to be enjoyed by all!
