C.K. works with Mrs. K at the one hour dry cleaner. He has worked there for almost eight years and has known Mrs. K since he was ten, when his mother used to come in to the cleaners. C.K.'s mom still lives around the corner from the cleaners, in the house where C.K. grew up. But C.K. moved to South Philadelphia a few years ago -- to 4th Street -- to live with his girlfriend. He has two children now, one a son who was born three weeks ago.

C.K. went to Sulzberger Middle School. The neighborhood was pretty much the same when he was growing up. EXCEPT: when he was growing up the area was divided up into three different gangs' turfs: the Gambinos, the 49th Hoop Street gang and the 46th Street Mill gang. C.K. lived off 49th Street. He never had trouble going into the other groups areas, though. He figures it was because it all "depends on how you were with people". He made it clear that he wasn't involved in turf battles, and made it apparent he wasn't on anybody's side.

C.K. takes the SEPTA to get to work. He used to drive his car, but "it had an accident" recently, so now he takes public transit. Where he lives now are mostly white people -- Italians. There aren't any blacks -- though C.K.'s girlfriend is black too. He says they don't have many robberies and things like that there. He says he'd like to move back to Mill Creek -- if he could live in one of the big houses like the ones across the street from the Cleaners. C.K. says the people across the street are mostly old. Mrs. K sends flowers when people are sick, and tries to be friendly, but for some reason the people don't seem to like her much. C.K. thinks maybe its because of something that happened before he was around.
