He lives outside the neighborhood, but is well know within the area, as he is an almost constant presence. He used to live a block over from Aspen, on Olive Street, though as he puts it "it wasn't a legal residence". Mr. F has four children and one 7 year old grandson. They don't live in the area either. Mr. F says he feels safe walking anywhere, anytime. "Maybe I'm daffy," he says, "but if I want to go out at three in the morning, I'll go out at three in the morning." He adds that this neighborhood is very stable, no matter how outsiders choose to depict it. Mr. F says that maybe in another neighborhood where he didn't know anyone, if he saw fifteen kids coming towards him, he might feel a little bit uncomfortable. But in this neighborhood, he says, he knows so many people that in a big group of kids he's bound to know one or two, and that's all you really need to keep a group of kids in line, because all it takes is knowing one to track a whole group down if something happens.
