On one hand we have civilizations and city centers flourishing near water sources like Egyptians near the Nile and Philadelphians on the Delaware. On the other hand, we have the annual floods of Bangladesh, which render thousands homeless. Man has over the centuries tried to utilize water to meet his needs, and to tame its destructive qualities. |
