Reveal
urban waters
PROPOSAL
To celebrate rainwater, one should have fun with it. My idea
is based on the flexibility of water. Water is shapeless. The rain water
would be gathered into narrow glass tubes and springs out from holes along
their sides. When many tubes are gathered, the springing water will create
geometric patterns depending on the the rain fall. The glass tubes are made
to allow natural rotation, so the patterns will never be the same.
At the base of the glass tubes, pavements made from varied materials would
gather water and serve as an "Side Stream" of the buried river.
Different materials in paving would give quality of sound and reflection
of the urban waters.
After the rain, people may still see the remaining water glittering in tubes
with traces on the paved way.
