The suitability Study of The Mill Creek

for a Path structured by a Series of attraction points.

 The Factor Maps

There were six major factors that determines the layout of the" path". Some are natural, while others are manmade. When we thought of the path design, we did not think of it as a liner body. The path that we are suggesting is distinguished by its character, rather than it’s physical structure. The reason for that is the heavy impact the fully structured path can have on the community, the contrast, coast of the path, and the demand of the deferent factors studded. Each factor was given a range of values ranging from (1) as Good, to (10) as bad suitability for the desired path.

Elevation was studded to help in determining the high points of the site. The suggested points of attraction are to be located at the highest natural points, for a maximum visual accessibility, and impact.

Flooding was studded since water is the main feature in the site's history. We had the desire to reveal, and celebrate water. As a result we decided that the accumulated water in the flood plains is an asset that we need for our magnet points.

The existing Points of Attraction are assets that can contribute extremely well in implementing our theme. They are existing land marks that are known for both the residents and the visitors of the community. They are also revealing the history of the site, and the changes occurred on it.

Vacant lots were studded although the land value at the Mill Creek Comm. community is very low, we thought that the vacant land are more suitable, for the flexibility it provides to the layout and the design.

Transportation accessibility is a determining factor of a successful public space. We studded the accessibility of Buses, Railway stations, and subway stations. We ignored cars since they have full accessibility to the entire site.

Crime is the most obvious problem effecting the image of the Mill Creek Community, and by introducing nodes at the major crime seines we will attract social activities to that spots resulting, hopefully, in a reduction in the crime activities.

 The composite Map

The Composite Map was created by combining the six factors with some scaling. Crime factor was given a priority in the composition, while the existing points of attraction factor was given a lower priority since they are a constant.
The map proves that the Points theme is the best to be implemented on the site, since the resultant of the combination are scattered points.
