Hi, I'm Abdul Cooper and I had a great time working with the Penn students and the Mill Creek project. What I learned about the project is working with my community. I wanted to have a safer environment for my future and friends. What I would like to be done to the community is to fix the houses, to put in greenways, youth centers, and more houses. The city can come out to fix the streets and sidewalks, clean up, and clean the graffiti and vandalism. The city can fix Sulzberger Middle School and put out more money planting more trees, and help clean up the highrise area and the lowrise area. We can make it a decent looking area for the future and get some of these guns and drugs off the street. I can make this happen if I just stick to it and call the mayor or write to him about the problem.
Two thousand years ago, Mill Creek was an Indian path. They rebuilt it in the 1800's. Indians once walked Mill creek before we did. We are only visitors to the new world. All kinds of cultures changed from 1900-1997. I had a great time learning about the Penn students, and them learning about us. Professor Spirn told us that we are the future. I can make this happen if I stick to it and clean up instead of messing up. For example, if I have an empty lot with a bunch of trash, I can call the city and talk to someone and tell them my problem and they will come out and clean it out. It takes two to make a thing go right. I had a really good time with Professor Spirn and the Penn students. I would like to meet again and do more research about the Mill Creek. |
