In 1924, a servant, sailed from Hamburg on the ship Minnekahda on 27 Sep; arrived at New York on 7 Oct; last permanent residence Munich, Germany; final destination Carnegie, Pennsylvania, to join her cousin Christian HARTMANN; next of kin in Germany, her aunt Therese FIEDLER; height 5'7", fair hair and complexion, brown eyes, able to read and write in German; in possession of $25; immigration visa 32675 issued 5 Sep 1924 at Munich. In 1901, a smith, sailed from Antwerp on the ship Zeeland on 3 Aug; arrived at New York on 12 Aug; last residence Essen; final destination New York City; accompanied by his brother in law Heinrich KRAUSHAAR and family. Also in 1901, Elise sailed from Antwerp on the ship Southwark on 26 Oct; arrived at New York on 4 Nov; last residence Essen; final destination Newark, New Jersey, to join her husband at 133 Belmont Avenue. In 1910, a burner at a granite works, living at Washington Pike, Scott Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, with his wife Elizabeth. (Enumerated as Augustus HARTMAN in the 1910 census.) Naturalized as a U.S. citizen on 3 Mar 1911 in the Circuit Court, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County. On 10 Mar 1911, a blacksmith, residence Carnegie, Allegheny County, applied for a U.S. passport (issued 13 Mar) to travel abroad with his wife Elizabeth; height 5'6", low forehead, medium nose and mouth, long face, black eyes and hair, dark complexion. On 12 Sep 1918, a bronzemaker, of Crafton, Allegheny County, registered for the U.S. World War I draft; tall, medium build, brown hair, brown eyes. In 1920, a laborer in the gilt work industry, living at Washington Pike, Scott Township, with his wife Elizabeth and a boarder. (According to the 1920 census, Christian's and Elizabeth's parents were all four born at Essen.) On 24 Jan 1921, a bond maker, residence Carnegie, applied for a U.S. passport (issued 27 Jan) to travel abroad with his wife Elizabeth; to sail from New York on 9 Apr, visit relatives in Holland, and travel in France and Switzerland; height 5'8", medium forehead, broad face, square chin, straight nose, mustache, brown eyes, grey hair, ruddy complexion; see photograph. In 1924, when his cousin Johanna Hedwig Emma FIEDLER; arrived in the United States, of Wagner Street, Carnegie. 2. Charles August KRAUSHAAR, b. 25 Aug 1895 at Carnegie, d. 1965, bur. at Chartiers Cemetery, Carnegie. In 1900, living with his parents. In 1901, sailed from Antwerp to New York with his parents. In 1910, a laborer in a granite factory, living with his parents. On 25 Jun 1917, a laborer, of 335 Plum Street, Carnegie, registered for the World War I draft; medium height, slender build, brown hair and eyes. In 1920, a truck driver at a coal mine, living with his parents. A military veteran by 1930. In 1930, proprietor of a service station, living at 5070 Grand Avenue, Neville Island Township, Allegheny County. On 27 Apr 1942, of 7701 Grand Avenue, Neville Island, and employed at the same address, registered for the World War II draft; next of kin Mrs. Ellen Kraushaar of the same address (his wife?); 5'6", 150 lb., grey eyes and hair, light complexion, scars on his right arm and the left side of his face. [ref. 4b,7l,7m,7n,7o,9a,9b,11]
