A Foreign Serpent Returns Caine's Corpse

People hear flapping from the Sea of Chance.

Cailin is teleported by a Guild Mage to his House.

The Serpent's Apprentice is aware that an ancient Wyrm is approaching from the Sea. Princess Chandra has turned to greet it. Ilk prepares to greet it.

A giant dragon emerges from the Sea. Chaos is dripping off of its scales; many things form. Various Old Lords step on them, just in case. Some dive into back the Sea to avoid being stomped.

The dragon hovers overhead on giant, leathery wings.

Princess Chandra, in an archaic and stilted form of Serpent-tongue, states, "I greet thee, brother." The return is, of course, "brother". The Serpent's Apprentice kow-tows. The dragon looks him up and down and welcomes him to the family.

The wyrm turns a claw over, opens it, and the broken corpse of Caine falls out. Those familiar with the human form can tell that Caine did not die well, nor comfortably.

The dragon swivels its eye-stalks around, picks the King out of the crowd, and gestures at the corpse which hops a bit towards Osric. Osric wraps the corpse in Fringe energy for later delivery. Benedict is looking at Osric in horror.

Benedict - "What are you doing...."

Osric - "Preserving it."

Benedict - "Oh."

The dragon spreads its wings, and everyone there can see writ large, the deaths that Caine wrought to try to save himself, including jamming a Pattern-blade through the heart of another Logrus, the destruction of another Chaos, many, many shadows destroyed, and several dragons killed.

The dragon spreads its wings even wider and fades. Ilk can tell that it went to the Serpent's Antechamber. He glances at Princess Chandra, asking if they should follow. She indicates that he should do so. Ilk goes to the Serpent's Antechamber.

The winged Serpent is in the Serpent's antechamber, talking with the local Serpent. They're exchanging gossip. Ilk kow-tows again and listens.

Princess Chandra walks up to Osric and apologizes for not explaining the significance of what happened. She warns him not to just give away the corpse -- that one might want it back at some point.

Cailin and the Dragon

Waiting for Cailin, curled up on a ledge above his House, is a dragon. Cailin is late, and the dragon is amused -- no speaker to dragons has ever been late before in his memory.

It comments on the poisoned house. Cailin mentions the poisoned egg, and is offered a claw. Cailin takes it, and the dragon flies. Things change around them as the dragon flies. They land on the extreme edge of a shadow from the poisoned egg.

Cailin is ordered to acquire his progenitor by the dragon. He tries to open a communications gate to his grandmother, and realizes that he's on another promontory. Cailin claims that he doesn't have the power to reach her, so the dragon tells him to stay put and flies off.

Osric's to-do list

Pharaban comes back into view from the direction of the new tower at Darkover. He approaches Osric, nods briefly in his direction, grabs Caine's Fringe-encapsulated corpse, and takes it back towards Darkover. Osric argues with Pharaban briefly, to the surprise of many people. Pharaban keeps dragging the body.

In Dragon Home

A young boy, about six or seven years old, tugs on Cailin's shirt. "Are you a dragon?!" "Are you poisoned?" Cailin cuts the possibly contaminated part of his shirt off and conjures new clothing.

The kid races Cailin back to his hut. Coral emerges from the hut and greets Cailin. She had a vision that she should be busy elsewhere during his last visit. Cailin whines to Titania, who says that the residents of Cobalt don't dream. He asks for a clarification, and determines that Coral's vision came from the sun city -- Cobalt's equivalent of Tir.

Cailin talks to Coral. They tried to cleans the spores left by his shadow with fire, but didn't go near the dragon egg. They discuss infection.

A younger dragon shows up in Chaos, and makes a bow to Princess Chandra. Princess Chandra seems to stare at it for a moment, and then jumps on its back. They fly off.

A much younger dragon appears and encircles Kieron.

In Dragon Home

Princess Chandra arrives on the back of the dragon that was talking to Cailin. Cailin says farewell to Coral and levitates over to Princess Chandra. She dismounts, and asks Cailin why she was so urgently needed.

When Princess Chandra discovers that the dragon suggested that he summon her, she grabs the dragon by a claw, twists, and drags the dragon off to the side.

Coral, down by the house, is trying to pick her jaw up off the floor.

A little while later, a very contrite dragon returns with Princess Chandra.

Princess Chandra states that Snarsht wasn't detecting the poison; he was just detecting wrongness -- things that weren't built correctly.

Princess Chandra chases everybody off to give her room to work, and tells Cailin to chat with the dragon to humble it somewhat. Dragons only speak the true speech -- the only names they use are true names.

Zombies Return to their Graves

Jean notices that all of a sudden, all over shadow, one of the most common, and hence most boring, elements stops. The zombies all start returning to their graves. Some of them are dragging living people into their graves with them.

Crematoriums start becoming popular, and re-crematoriums start being used.

Jean tells the Dancers' Guild to remind him periodically that the King of Chaos is a lousy job.

Osric asks Ilk to ask Darkstar to look through Dara's trump to find out if she is hidden in this gathering of dignitaries.
