Jean and Amaranth have Pattern-teleported into a tower that contains Mandor, chained to a wall. Jean pokes at Mandor and gets that sticky-magic discharge feeling.
Jean goes over to Norton in the council chambers and asks if he can borrow Mandor for a while, since he found Mandor and needs Mandor to help Mandor. Norton says that Mandor doesn't want to leave - apparently he's going. Amaranth tries to trump Jean, and fails. Jean is bemused.
Amaranth talks about melting the chains, and wonders if Mandor would melt as well. Amaranth tries to melt the chains, and neither Mandor or the chains melt, but the wall looks a bit wavy. She tries to blast the wall, but nothing happens.
The door behind them is starting to open. Someone pokes his head through, tosses up a ward, and flees. Jean tosses a big destructive spell at the guy and blasts away the side of the tower. An eldritch being pulls itself into existence and starts shambling off after the wizard who bound it into the tower.
Amaranth tries to trump Jean again and succeeds. Jean pulls Norton through.
Norton goes to a fast shadow, and Mandor begins constructing three spheres. It takes him about four days to complete the spheres, then Mandor turns to the others and says that they need to leave the shadow before the last ward is completed.
Norton and a demon Jean return to the tower. A minute or so later, three small balls arrive.
The balls circle around Mandor, he gets blurry for a bit, and then one of the balls turns black and falls to the ground, bouncing a few times.
Mandor awakes, and Mandor and Amaranth are sappy at each other. Mandor destroys the wall behind him, and another big critter appears and crawls off. Mandor suggests that people leave before "they" arrive. Mandor jumps to the ground, Ilk in Norton pulls the rest down, and then Mandor starts releasing the the eldritch beings.
Norton starts lunging after a nearby book with crawling letters, but the book hops away. Jean grabs the book with a tractor beam, and starts feeling depressed. Norton shifts himself into a pair of bookends and starts chasing after the book. That fails, and Norton starts sending out gnomes.
Mandor says that he miscalculated - he ran into a hippogryph, and while he was fighting it, he was blindsided from behind. Mandor doesn't believe that there are any hippogryphs left in existence.
Mandor gates the group back to a presumably safe place to talk. A briefing of sorts occurs.
Cassandra, Darhyse, and Jean find themselves in a large throne room. They are immediately attacked by everyone nearby. Cassandra tucks the sandstone-statue-Jean under her belt and starts fighting. Jean notices that they are acting white-statue-y - they are all chopping at the nearest person nearby. The people that take fatal blows don't seem to realize that they should fall down and die, so they don't. Jean notices that Cassandra is extremely good with a blade.
Jean, Laetatio, and mecha-Jean step out of the council chambers, and Laetatio starts working on a trump of the place.
Norton, a Jean or three, Norton, Mandor, and Amaranth return to the Council chambers at the same time as Neville. Neville asks if they've gotten any info, and Norton checks with his scout. The scout has several scorch marks and is blued, with a crossbow bolt penetrating several inches into the blue. There's someone with wings walking the Pattern. The person takes about six steps and then disappears again.
Jean goes and tells his mom what is happening. She says that it is no longer her responsibility and relinquishes her seat to Amaranth, who relinquishes her seat to Mandor. Mandor turns to Flora. "Why are there all of these Amberites here?"
"Well, we thought that they'd be useful. Shock troops, you know."
Norton rants insanely. When he tries to put happy helmets on Cailins, his tentacles are knifed by bodyguards and he is glared at by Princess Chandra. Norton hears about Bleys and runs off in pursuit. He has the Ilk in his head acquire a few Tremere from his shadow, and they head off tracking Bleys's path.
Neville speculates with various people about Gwen's sporadic walking of the Pattern. Melk is mentioned.
[The GM is a liar]
Brand suggests taking a Jewel of Judgment and freezing her on the Pattern.
Celeste sends an Ilk out to convince Norton that Bleys isn't Mikail and so he should return. After an odd communications chain is constructed and Ilk's identity is verified, Norton returns.
The army is left at Norton's house, a Jewel of Judgment is acquired, and Norton and Ilk head back to the council chambers, leaving the undead outside disguised as ... undead.
Celeste chats with the Corwin and Norton in her head. Corwin offers to attune Celeste to the Jewel so she doesn't need to give it to Brand. Norton speculates on the possibility of drawing his own Pattern in order to become sane.
Celeste hands Brand the Jewel of Judgment. The Norton in Brand's head notices that the door in Brand's head is glowing more brightly.
