PR8. Mariotte's Bottle (Three Hole Can)
FLUID - Dynamics
Water flows into a cylinder that has three corked holes at intervals along the side. When the cylinder is filled with water and the three outlets are uncorked, the stream of emerging water expel at different distances. This demonstrates a direct relationship of pressure and depth in a fluid filled vessel. The theoretical distance "d" at which any trajectory strikes the table is d=2(h1h2)1/2.
d is maximum when h2=h1, for a hole halfway up the reservoir.
