Course 10.26 Gives you the Chance to Use Some Awesome Lab Toys

You'll design and build the equipment used in the course, often with donations or loans of state-of-the-art equipment from the industrial sponsors. The main laboratory in Building 66 has space for conducting varied projects in chemical engineering: a mix of benches and open space, with fume hoods, high bays, and utilities. We have a dedicated machine shop for making or modifying equipment. The Department has a selection of analytical equipment, including a number of gas chromatographs, an atomic absorption spectrophotometer, IR and UV/Vis spectrophotometers, a vibrating tube densitometer, a polarimeter, an ICP spectrophotometer, a Pressure Swing Adsorption unit, a Multicell Diffusion apparatus, several chemical and biochemical reactors and a Millipore Continuous Deionization device, etc. Other tools located outside our Department can be accessed if needed, including GCMS and electron microscopes. Your project may require highly specialized equipment, usually supplied by your sponsoring company.
