Links to Information on SIVAM
The following links are to
information about Brazil's new program to monitor the Amazon Rainforest.
It involves the Raytheon Corporation, an American company, as well as several
other Brazilian corporations, Embraer and ATECH.
Raytheon is providing both aerial-mounted sensors as well as 14 state-of-the-art
fixed base air traffic control radars as well as 6 transportable radars. Embraer
is supplying specially modified remote sensing aircraft, which will have
the sensors attached to them.
We will be meeting with the technical director of Raytheon Command,
Control, Communication and Information Systems, Paul Ferraro,
hopefully sometime next week. I have thought about some questions I would
like to ask him. They are also listed below.
