Minutes for October 3, 2003
Long term goals:
1) cost/benefit analysis -> proposal
We wish to focus our research in quantifying the items in the following
table:

Setting up drilling

- Machinery for extraction

Value of oil:
(Price of oil at time over which oil extracted from ANWR may be
sold) x (number of barrels that can be extracted from ANWR |
Potential harm to wildlife/ecosystem:
determine with survey of where on average the environment ranks in
importance among a number of different topics/issues |
Balance of jobs:
(jobs gained) x (wage) - (jobs lost) x (wage) |
| Transport cost of moving oil to demand market |
Less dependence on foreign oil |
2) economic impact of proposal
Meeting format:
-
Wednsdays: exchange research information, choose new
research question from goals list

Fridays: update team website; try to fill in part of
the above cost/benefit chart with figures/info from research in order to
facilitate later conclusions

Sundays at 7pm work as a time for extra meetings, as
needed

with 3 journal articles summarized
Other News:
