Progress Log
Minutes for Nov. 10, 2003
- All present
- Went through team e*s proposal.
- Discussed the feasibility and
practicality of using hovercrafts
(skeptical).
- Anton must be asked which method
he is proposing, seismic or non-
seismic and to what extent will each be employed.
-
- Must ask team e ※what is your
definitive conclusion?§
- The actual assignment of mission
was reestablished (hydrocarbon
potential/ value- not just for oil)
- It must be considered whether or
not the oil resources are worth the
environmental damage at all
- Teams have submitted proposals
that have no figures, we need figures
and definite strategies, we must impress upon these teams again our need for
figures in order to carry out our job adequately.
- Spoke about our respective
weekends and the spamming Jaime and Ruchi
encountered respectively.
- WE NEED TO SYNTHESIZE BY FRIDAY
- It was suggested we can use
our summaries as our model
- Question was raised whether Alex
will continue to work on environmental
costs or finish up Zheng*s part (transportation & exploration), no
decision
was made, hence it is assumed Alex will continue with assessing the
environmental costs.
- It was made known that the Alaska
hovercraft model LACV 30 will use 260
gallons of fuel per hour. Is this really the most environmentally friendly
solution?
- Question arose concerning team 9*s
proposal: How was it deduced that
air pollution decreased (skeptical)
- Oil companies in Alaska are now
paying millions due to environmental
infringements which they have carried out - article read by Ruchi.
- There are 500 oil spills per year
每 article read by Ruchi.
- ARON, MARIELA, & MICHAEL (self
titled ※terradorks§) invaded our meeting.
- Yes, hydrocarbons entail natural
gas, half of the 1002 area is gas 每
Mariela
- Problems with lack of being
specific and definitive were addressed by
Michael.
- The biggest cost is environmental
每 Michael
- ※Kick their ass§ 每
Michael, in response to team 4 planning to just
give us rankings of the environmental impact.
- People need to know their duties,
they must have primary and secondary
duties (crunch time requires this) these duties should be 1) team based and 2)
product/final presentation based (website team, editing team etc.)
- Deadlines must be adhered to
- We need to do the cost/benefit
analysis
- It was suggested that by this
Monday everything needs to begin being
worm together.
- Question: What is a 4d plot? 每
Jaime
- Role of proposals: to say whether
this method is good or whether this
method sucks
- MARIELA, MICHAEL, AND ARON HAVE NO
LIFE AND SPEND ALL THEIR TIME IN THE
TERRASCOPE ROOM.
- Again it was said we must take
charge of the cost-benefit analysis
- Jaime hates PDF*s with a ※fiery
passion§
- It would be good if one of us
could work in the presentation group.
- Contact John Rotzinger and/or Cate
Morgan for information and details
on oil companies (contact Aron if difficulty arises)
- Get someone from team 10 (and team
4 also) to work on cost-benefit
analysis.
- Members of team 9 are available to
do stuff and attend our meetings.
- ANALYSIS OF TEAM E REPORT AND
SUMMARY OF OUR RESEARCH IS DUE BY FRIDAY
NOV. 14.
