About Me

The Native Alaskans of the Arctic Wildlife National Refuge (ANWR) can be divided into two main groups: the Inupiat Eskimos of Kaktikov and the Gwich'in Eskimos of the North Slope. Each has its own special interest in the future of ANWR. Oil drilling could help to secure one group financially, while possibly harming the livelihood of the other. They may share a common bloodline, but their cultures and juxtaposed views on ANWR add another perspective to the oil drilling debate, for they will immediately feel the impact of oil development.
